Buying in Bulk at Boxcar Barney’s

2012-07-29_20-34-00_174

If you ever happen to be in Western New York State, and it's not freezing and covered in snow (and I realize this won't count for 99.99% of anyone reading this), you may not find many destination dining spots. But you do need to make a sweet detour to Boxcar Barney's.

Why? Because not only does Barney (or rather, the teenage girls who work his counter) offer more flavors of regional classic Hershey's Ice Cream than you're likely to see in any other place--but he also isn't skimpy with the portions.

You may not be able to see the size signs painted on the glass window, but let me just point out that the three cones here are not the small size. They are the BABY size. And all three of them were less than $10. While we were waiting on line, we did see a couple people order the gravity-defying monstrous Mediums (in soft serve, which they also offer). But even they admit they couldn't imagine trying to tackle a Large.

America. Love it or leave it.
