Taste of the Nation 20: Vegasized
The 20th Annual Taste of the Nation hit Las Vegas again on May 17, and although I could only spend a little time there, it was clearly one of the best events in the charity event's history. Led by Committee Chairman Chef Carlos Guia of Country Club at Wynn, TOTN gathered a judicious cross-section of Las Vegas culinary talent, from Strip stars like Aureole, STK, Circo and B&B to local favorites Raku, Bon Breads, Lola's and Nothing Bundt Cakes. Attendees could, as always, bid on a variety of silent auction packages as well, and even took away a Chefs Recipe Book actually full of good recipes (PJ Clarke Chef Johnny Church's steak searing trick is brilliant).
The only critique I'd offer is to say that the event has, to it's credit, outgrown Rain Nightclub; because the pool deck, which houses half of the stands, is subject to strong winds (as it was Thursday night), they really need to move the event somewhere else in Palms next year–maybe upstairs to Moon, or to the meeting space?
Rather than blather any further, I'll just let my pics speak for themselves:
